The Solution To Your Coral

One of our SUPER-CUSTOMERS, Sarina of MyFashConfections, inspired this ensemble as purple & coral are her favorite two colors to color-block in the summer months. The Akiko Dress is from PlushAttire.com and was the perfect shade of purple to mix with coral accessories.

The purple hue is limited to the dress and to the heels, as it is a vibrant and powerful color, you do not want to overuse it. The heels contain small amounts of decorations which helps to break up the intensity of this hue. As the dress is solid color, it limits the amount of purple that you would want to use elsewhere.

Summertime brings about strapless style dresses and tangerine color schemes. Here the tangerine is used to accent the blue hues of the dress. THE SOUL STROLL

This unique look was created with the mindset of a summer stroll through botanical gardens or your favorite nature spot. Orange was chosen not only because of its popularity this time of year, but because we had the idea of matching the sun colors with the landscape, in this case light greens.

The dress here is a belted beauty from MILLY, and is great for warmer weather. With a slit at the collar for breath-ability and above the knee for coolness, this dress was cut just for summer. The heels have lots of room for air as well which makes for a comforting summer outfit.

Gold was chosen for the jewelry as it blends in subtly with the other hues present. It’s also a nod to the phrase, “Golden Summer Day”, which you may have heard. Overall, these three hue choices come together seamlessly in a bright, bold, and trendy visual array of beauty.

Set with a pink ruffle skirt, & matching heels, the bold is on fire with this ensemble. For an added “POP” of color we’ve incorporated teal in the earrings, necklace, and handbag. The teals and pinks play off each other in a not-so-subtle duel of the bold and the beautiful. Elegantly woven with the off-white, these two contrasting colors share similar intensity and both seem to “brighten” the top and matching bracelet. VERA WANG 2013 BRIDAL COLLECTION

Vera Wang displayed her far east influence in this year’s bridal collection runway show. With shades of red taking the forefront, you know this is not a western influenced look. Stepping away from the more traditional whites, Vera Wang plays with red tones. From the dark to the bold, red is the color of choice for 2013 weddings. While a few of the dresses presented conformed to the western world with ivories and off-whites, out of the 15 pieces, the red garments stand out loudest.

The cuts on the gowns were of a more whimsical nature than typical styles. For instance, this strapless beauty show here is made up of flowing, wavy folds of fabric. It shows lightness and is a pleasure to the eye. Organic, as opposed to the geometric structure of several of her counterparts, Vera Wang appears to want weddings to be fun and joyous. This is no clearer than her hand-rolled floral gown as it is the most playful piece in the collection.

Another design factor that makes this collection intriguing is the usage of ballgowns. Prominently shown and featuring LONG tails, this style is the premier look for Vera Wang’s 2013 season. She also features one-shoulder, tank top, and halter v-neck line styles. Formfitting looks were also shown such as her Dahlia Mermaid Gowns.

Do You Have The Nerdy Blues?

Here the effect is created with the thick-rimmed glasses, socks, and watch that reflect the soft, inviting colors.

The 2012 Cannes Film Festival had quite a bit of stunning fashion on display this year. With Jessica Chastain in Herve L. Leroux and many more, the celebs were out in style. Ms. Chastain’s look was exhilerating. The sleeveless, knee-length beauty seemed to accent her red hair color and ivory skin tone. The top half of the dress contains hues of tangerine which really “pop” with her hair color. Her heels are basic but are peep-toed (open hole front) which adds a little flare, just enough that they are stylish but your focus is still the dress. TheRalph Lauren 2012 Summer Fashion Show features a wide range of looks, all of which fit trends very well. First off, colors. Ralph Lauren utilizes the pastel palette frequently here. From the subtle to the overpowering, pastel colors are prominently on display in this runway show. Using 3 or 4 colors on average the hues stay pretty consistent with blues, greens, pinks, and yellows. Varying from the tangerine color trend, these four hues are the primary ones shown. Ralph Lauren mixes it up a bit with a few all white outfits as well as some all pink looks. When the colors are widely used, they are color blocked. From the bags to the hats to the dress/skirts/tops and makeup, colors are given large areas of solid space to draw the viewer’s attention.

The items themselves vary drastically from one look to the next. Ralph Lauren displays everything from Maxi dresses to office wear all while keeping a unity that is often lost with designers. These looks are distinctly Ralph Lauren. Matching skirts with blazers and scarves to form a casual work ensemble, this brand exemplifies the contrast between class and playful. This is evident at the 5:35 mark with a sleek working-women outfit. The top half is very professional looking with the suit coat and tie styled sharply. The bottoms are matching shorts but the length is shorter than the average workplace cut. This allows a subtle element of fun and easiness while maintaining a managerial appearance.

One aspect of this show that stands out is the use of summer hats such as the down brim style. These are placed strategically with outfits that one may not assume would work together. At 3:35 there is a prime example of a down brim hat that is unexpectedly pleasing to the eye. The look is a pantsuit set in all white with a subtle blend of pastel pink. The hat is in ingrained well as it matches the pants and suit-coat in color and fabric. It’s a look that could easily become appalling but Ralph Lauren is Ralph Lauren for a reason and knows where and when to place it.
